"Stasi & Company"(english) |
|
|
"Stasi & Company"
You will find an interesting list of West German and foreign companies that were controlled by Stasi respectively the East German Government (SED) under http://www.ddr-wissen.de/wiki/ddr.pl?Liste_der_KoKo-Firmen. Those companies made profits for the East German Regime in Western countries. The issue that is the most interesting may be what has happened to those companies and who benefits from their profits today ...
Gregor Gysi and the "Super-Illu"
Especially the citizens of former East Germany are addressed as the readers of the German boulevard magazine "Super-Illu". Next to fancy cooking recipes, colorful vacation tips and other entertaining features the magazine currently publishes a different interview with Gregor Gysi in each and every issue, celebrating his victory over the German TV Channel ZDF (who has been prohibited to report links between Gysi and Stasi spying activities) and depicting Gysi's other sugar sweet sides. Under their impressum you can also find an indication that Gysi is a columnist of the "Super-Illu" that has started its whole-page colorful advertisements in magazines preferred by former West German readers...

Stasi Vehicles of the Third Kind
The East German Secret Service (Stasi) also operated special vehicles for "special" operations. Stasi officials would, for instance, use a car that was identical to 3 or 4 other cars in respect to its color, model and even license plate number. Those vehicles were only driven by the Stasi. Since they had several "doppelgangers", an identification of those cars was impossible. The vehicles were used for the surveillance or harassment of Stasi victims. The license plate numbers could only be identified by the Stasi; they were not registered elsewhere.
